No time to die will be star Daniel Craig’s final foray as James Bond, with fans of the James Bond franchise all speculating on who might be the next performer to take on the iconic role, but director Martin Campbell recently noted that a selection would likely not take place anytime soon, knowing that the time it takes to develop a new entry in the series is likely years away. Campbell’s comments are of good authority, considering he directed Craig’s first Bond film, Casino Royale, in addition to having directed the first Bond film by Pierce Brosnan, Golden eye. Campbell’s last, The Protected, hits theaters August 20.
“I think right now [the studio is] determined to get whatever has been on the shelf for a year and a half, whatever it is, to get it out, ”Campbell shared with ComicBook.com about his predictions for the series. “And, normally, Bond’s cycle is two or three years. Every two years, a new Bond came out. I think with Daniel Craig leaving I think with the one they have on the shelf which I think will be released in late October I’m not sure but they gave a date for that and they have a already had two false starts. “
He added: “So I think they’re going to release this and then they’re just going to take a big, deep breath and it’s probably going to be another three years before the next one comes out because they have to launch a new Leap and you have to. a little bit of break-in. And it has to be scripted and everything. So now that Daniel’s gone, of course, where are you going with that? That’s the other question. “
No time to die was originally scheduled to hit theaters in the spring of 2020, only for the coronavirus pandemic to see it earn several delays. As it stands, the film is slated to hit theaters on October 8. However, some audiences are still worried about whether the film will actually land in theaters on that date, or whether the pandemic could cause more delays.
Given the excitement of the new movie, fans aren’t just looking forward to No time to die but also to which actor could take over the coveted role in the future.
In The Protected, Saved as a child by the legendary assassin Moody (Samuel L. Jackson) and trained in the family business, Anna (Maggie Q) is the world’s most skilled hitman. But when Moody – the man who was like a father for her and taught her everything she needs to know about confidence and survival – is brutally killed, Anna swears revenge. As she finds herself embroiled in an enigmatic killer (Michael Keaton) whose attraction to it goes way beyond the cat and the mouse, their confrontation becomes deadly and the loose ends of a life spent killing will be held even tighter. “
No time to die hits theaters on October 8 and The Protected hits theaters August 20.
